How to Borrow Materials
How do I find out what's in the library?
You can search by subject, title, author and media type by using the Glenmary Listing of Resources (PDF) or call the Glenmary Media Center at (615) 256-1900. They will be happy to help you find what you're looking for.
Is there a cost for borrowing materials?
There is no charge other than postage.
How do I place an order for resources?
If ordering by phone or e-mail, please allow at least a week to receive your resources - we use USPS Library Rate mailing. You may order by phone if the order is 5 items or fewer. Your reservation will be checked and confirmed at that time. Larger orders should be sent by e-mail to dps@glenmary.org or postal mail, and a confirmation will be sent if time allows.
When ordering, please tell us:
- Date you plan to use the material
- Title and catalog number of the media requested
- Your parish
- Mailing address and telephone number (we mail to the parish address unless otherwise requested)
When can I expect my materials, and how long can I keep them?
Materials are mailed USPS Library Rate. Your order is normally mailed one week before the scheduled use date. It should arrive in time for you to preview the material before showing it.
Audiovisual materials are due back in the Glenmary Media Center one week after the final use date, not to exceed 30 days. Orders are scheduled, processed, and mailed with this due date in mind. Your cooperation makes it possible for the next user to get the material on time. If for some reason you need to keep the material beyond the scheduled due date, please contact the Media Center before the due date to see if it is available for renewal. Overdue material will be charged a fine.
What if I damage an item?
If you damage an item, please do not try to fix it! Notify us so that we can repair the item or inform the next user. Users who damage an item beyond normal wear will be asked to pay for repair or replacement. Because audio-visual material is expensive to replace, we suggest:
- Be sure your equipment is in good repair and properly adjusted.
- Make certain the projectionist:
- Follows instructions for using the equipment
- Remains near the machine in case of trouble
- Turns off the machine immediately if trouble is indicated
- Keep food and beverages away from equipment and A-V materials
- Keep videotapes away from magnetic fields; and do not leave A-V materials near heat, in a car, or in direct sunlight.
