Church Facilities Planning

larger font

Meet with the church facilities director to arrange the use of the building. Sometimes this is your priest, sometimes it is a hired employee of the church and sometimes it is a volunteer. Your priest will help you to make contact with this person and to arrange the practicalities of using the church.

These items may include:

  • Controlling the lighting of the sanctuary and meeting spaces during the ceremony
  • Parking arrangements
  • Parking lot lighting
  • Doors unlocking and re-locking
  • Flower arrangements for the alter and other
  • Special candles
  • Aisle runners
  • Pew dressings

Some areas of the church that you will be using are not the ones that you have seen before. It is a good idea to arrange for a "walk through" of the church to be sure that both bride and groom are familiar with the church. This way, when the day comes, there will be no anxiety about where the bride will go to dress or where the groom and groomsmen will wait.
